bo stands for bethanio as well as for true knowledge. It is the meeting place for various initiatives. The space is created to stimulate people who come forward to create a better world to live in. dhi stands for knowledge as well as for the development of human initiatives. It is underlined with paddy. In Kerala rice is a symbol of prosperity. It is the staple food of Kerala and even all over Asia. In particular rice is very special to Wayanadu which seems to be the shortened form of wayal nadu (the region of paddy fields). The knowledge shared and nurtured is indicated through this symbol.
What Bodhi stands for::
builds up mind, intellect and body of human persons. organizes programs to impart true knowledge develops and promote the diminishing culture of Wayanadu helps the poor and marginalized to live better initiates individuals and groups to fight for the human values.
The Eye in the emblem stands for the divine light one acquires from the true knowledge. It helps one to conquer all sorts of darkness.
Tree symbolizes the authentic life that sprouts from true knowledge. All the religions like Hinduism, Budhism, Judaism, Christianity, Islam and tribal religions share the concept of a divine tree in their religious symbolism to indicate wisdom or true knowledge. The triangle shape of the tree symbolizes the power (sakhti) of the true knowledge. It indicates the strength that sprouts from the seeds. The emblem is placed in the background of the historic chain tree and the edackal carvings. Wayanad- the chosen ground where Bo.dhi has its roots.Bodhi lends its helping hand to the people of Wayanadu, a backward district in Kerala. The main focuss of Bo-dhi is the upliftment of the downtroden and the marginalised especially, the adivasi population who live in abject poverty and ruthless exploitation.
Wayanad - a fact file:: One important characteristic feature of this district is the large adivasi population, consisting mainly of Paniyas, Kurumas, Adiyars, Kurichyas, Ooralis, Kadans,Kattunaikkans are the different aboriginal tribes of Wayanad. The Kurichyar is the most developed among them. They are small land owners, whereas the members of other tribes are mostly labourers. Wayanad district stands first in the case of adivasi population (about 36%) among other districts in the state. Wayanad has a large settler population. There are people from almost all parts of Kerala who migrated to this fertile land for building up their lives. Wayanad has a small jain community consisting of Gowders who came from Karnataka. They have built beautiful temples all over the district. Almost all sections of Christianity are well represented. One fourth population of Wayanad is constituted by Christians. Muslims constitute another one fourth population and rest of the population belongs to Hindus. Their hard work and sacrifice helped them to prosper. On the other hand, the last few decades have seen the complete marginalisation of the indigeneous people.
